About inThemes

This site was created as an independent directory of iGoogle themes by Sterling Udell, one of the top developers working with the Google Themes API. Our goal is to give iGoogle users access to the best themes available by providing good search tools and carefully selecting every theme we list.

Please note that we didn't create the vast majority of themes in our directory, and aren't able to modify them; that's up to the theme's original developer.

Submission Guidelines

One of the primary goals here at inThemes is to only include high-quality themes in our directory. Consequently, we don't accept every theme that gets submitted. If you're a theme developer wanting to get your work listed on inThemes, here are the guidelines we follow:

  1. First and foremost is esthetics. We're looking for themes that are visually appealing, polished, and well-presented. If your header image is badly pixellated or clearly has the incorrect aspect ratio, don't get your hopes up.
  2. Also important is coherence. The various colors used throughout your theme, both in images and page elements, need to work well together.
  3. Bonus points are awarded for completeness. For example, themes tend to make a better impression when they have footer images.
  4. We prefer dynamic themes. If you have several related photos, don't submit a whole pile of themes with one header photo each. Combine them all into a single theme that changes photos over the course of a day or week.
  5. Originality counts. If all your theme does is turn iGoogle pink, it's not likely to make the cut, sorry.
  6. One thing that doesn't matter is whether or not your theme is listed in the iGoogle directory. Just keep in mind that Google doesn't host themes they don't list, so you must host your source files yourself on a reliable server. Do that, meet our other guidelines, and we're happy to include it in our directory.
